We've been writing, playing, and performing since we were teenagers--with full-time careers in psychology in-between. Now we're old(er) and ready to have fun!
We have a full, high quality sound system, plenty of guitars, and a long setlist of crowd pleasers. We know what we're doing and have a good time doing it. Sometimes we bring guest artists to add a little something extra.
Just kidding...sort of...

His first CD of originals left little doubt about his musical and production gifts. Then life, and a second career in clinical social work happened for about 15 years. In 2014, Bob returned to his first love, and has been playing with other talented musicians around Tehachapi and the Central Coast, winning awards at Topanga Fiddle and Banjo Festival, and writing more of his own songs. In addition to The InVocations, Bob also plays with Ken Leiboff as Two Likable Guys, and with Mark Alciati as The Wine Tones. He and Marilyn also hosted the venerable Camarillo Cafe Concert Series before COVID got to it.

Marilyn Meyer, moved to the Santa Barbara area in 2014 from the 'burbs east of Los Angeles where she grew up. Although a thoroughly SoCal woman, she was born in New Orleans and has deep ancestral roots in the South. Marilyn started singing about the time she started talking, and began songwriting and performing in her teens. After earning an MA in Theatre, she took a deep dive into Jungian psychology. Twenty-five years of psychotherapy practice later, her original songs are now inspired by the complexity of relationships, mythology and the creative process itself, grounded in her deep understanding of human nature. Her vocal style has been compared to Mary Chapin Carpenter and Karen Carpenter, as she discovers the authentic edges of a mature voice finding the expression of life experience.
In addition to other musician friends, our third founding member, Shane Bruce, joins us for added flair and extra sweet harmonies whenever we are in the same state. Shane is also a therapist...see a pattern here?...and a lifelong performer and songwriter.
